First Things First Link-Up

Today, I am going to do my first link-up with Halie @ Penguins, Pasta & Polka Dots and Hallie @ Life: Oceanside.

First Things First

This week their topics of choice are:

First thing I do when I wake up in the morning
Rub my eyes, grab my cell phone, and slowly wake up as I check every social media site known to man. I usually start with Facebook,  Keek, Instagram and Pinterest. Once my mind starts functioning more clearly I move to Blogger, my E-Mail, My Fitness Pal,  and finally the weather (since I wanna know if I need to make long johns a part of my outfit for the day). Funny thing is, this is exactly what I do before I go to bed too.

First heart break
I was a boy crazy girl/teenager so most would expect my first heart break to be over a member of the opposite sex. However, I would have to say it was when we sold my first pony. He was only a few inches too tall to be a miniature, I had outgrown him and I wanted/needed to get a bigger horse. I still remember the evil pony thief lady that came to purchase him. I was crying after they loaded him in their trailer, she asked me who to make the check out to, and I told her me. In my defense, I saved my own money to buy him so the money when we sold him should have been mine. That Witch She made the check out to my mom! The nerve of some people!

First prom or school dance
My first prom experience was when I was freshly 16. I attended my boyfriend at the times Junior Prom in a neighboring town. Sometimes, I wish almost 26 year old me could beat some sense into 16 year old me. I washed my mom's Saturn (it's was all good guys, it was cool because it had a sun roof), drove us, used a gift card that my mom purchased to pay for supper, and watched the hypnotist at post-prom by myself because my date thought it was dumb and he was tired so he was napping under a pool table.

I remember when I got this dress I weighed about 140 lbs and my mom
told me I needed to loose weight before prom because I looked chubby in it.
I think I was about 125 lbs or 130 lbs in this picture.
Shortly after Prom, I started working at the place where I met Mr. You Betcha and one of our first conversations was about how horrible our first prom experiences were.

He's a quiet guy, especially in high school, and he had attended prom with a friend (read friend of his mom) who had already graduated from high school. She said she didn't feel well (I think she really wanted to go home to be with her boyfriend) and left shortly after the grand march. He ended up cleaning up decorations all night and to top it off his new newer than most pickup got backed into by some junky car.

Glad to say, we both had three wonderful prom experiences in the years to follow.

Thanks for the Link-Up Halie & Hallie!

  1. So sweet to hear that your first heartbreak was over a pony. Not that that is good, but I think all children should learn to love and care for animals and that is definitely the best kind of heartbreak. I just found your blog and I have really enjoyed your writing and getting to know you better. Hope you don't mind if I follow along!

  2. I think pretty much everyone has said they do the same thing in the mornings! I think that means we're all kind of addicted to social media and email, oopsie :) Glad you joined in and linked up with us today!
